Week 22 - A minature newborn

22 weeks Jan. 12, 2010 • Size: Length 7-7.5 in, weight 1lb, Size 1lb. bag of coffee beans

"In addition to those teeny taste buds baby is sprouting this week, your baby is also developing a sense of touch -- the baby can experience what it's own face feels like, for example. The hair on the head also continues to grow this week, although this is one area where your genes might not make their mark right away. In many cases, the locks your baby's born with bear little resemblance to the hair it'll have at six months old."
- Ages and Stages

" At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. The lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and it's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath the gums. The eyes have formed, but the irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers the body and the deep wrinkles on the skin, which it'll sport until baby adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside their belly, the pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily." - Baby Center
