Sack of potatoes... and boy does it feel like it!

32 weeks March 23, 2010 • Size: Length 18-19 in, weight 4lbs, Size Bag of Potatoes

"This week, your baby starts to shed that downy protective hair, called lanugo, though there may be some fuzzy remnants on the shoulders and back after it’s born. With the exception of baby's still-developing lungs, all other major organs have completely formed -- which is great news if your baby happens to arrive early. In fact, almost all babies born at this stage or later survive and go on to have healthy, normal lives. Pretty impressive, considering you have almost two more months ‘til your due date!"
- Ages and stages!

Well if wives tales are true then we are going to have one hairy baby... I have such intense Acid reflux from this kiddo it is unbelievable! I do not have gestational diabetes so that is a blessing, and my iron is seemingly ok! Sleep is still not amazing but the baby room itself is coming together. Paintings are started and some are finished! The baby bed is up, thanks to my wonderful coach and husband!

Everything seems to be going along as it should! What a blessing.

Growth Spurt

31 weeks March 16, 2010

"This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. Baby can turn its head from side to side, and its arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath the skin. Baby's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy." - Baby Center

We must have one healthy rock star baby... it rolls and punches and kicks alot! We are able to see my stomach do tiny waves now! Pretty neat to watch this life from the outside. Can't wait to see it in real life!

My family was in colorado these few days for spring break and we managed to take ourselves to a baby 101 class! How fun was this day! And I am proud to announce that ben did great. No fainting during any video. I was grossed out a few times but my hero was great! He is gonna be a great coach because he makes me laugh when I am stressed. We did discover that visualizing big fields of flowers and being on all fours does not calm me or make me relaxed for delivery. To many bugs in my ideal field of flowers! And I am not much for acting like an animal on all fours! Pretty interesting class to be a fly on the wall for!

Officially Getting the HIccups! Week 30.

30 weeks March 9, 2010
Size: Length 16.25-17 in, weight 3lbs, Size Thick wool Sweater, Folded (silly comparison)

"Your baby's having a ball in there! Now that the senses are fully developed, baby can taste, touch, hear, see, and smell everything that's going on around it. Baby continues to practice breathing by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, which may mean it gets the hiccups more frequently now -- sending your uterus funny, twitchy spasms! (This is a great time to have people “feel” the baby, because those rhythmic hiccups mean you can anticipate the next movement.)" - Ages and Stages

Yes thats right we have the hiccups! It is a funny few minutes of constant thumping. Almost always in the same spot! Baby has also learned which way is up, sideways or down. I think it is going to be a gymnast like Aunt Tricia! Always fliping and tumbling.

Week 29 Can you sass around the unborn?

Sometimes these measuring things seem extremely off to me. But baby basketball it is! We are getting ready to take some baby classes and see how well things will go for us! Information can be key, can also make some of us (aka ben) pass out at the mere thought!
I am sure he will be fine though!

29 weeks March 2, 2010 • Size: Length 15.75-16.25 in, weight 2.5-2.75lbs, Basketball

"Keep talking to your baby! Not only is it great practice for breaking in that high-pitched mommy voice (you'll be using it round-the-clock in just a few short weeks!) but research shows that in-utero chit chat may help your baby become a smarter, more verbal kid down the road." - Ages and stages

my favorite mom quote is from the movie raising helen (also favorite movie)
it goes like so...

Two of the sisters are arguing over something and the preggo one gets a good swift kick from her womb. She looks down and says: "Now what did mommy tell you about interrupting when mommy is talking. Thank you." The other sister is in shock and replies: "Did you just sass around the unborn?" and the preggo sister replies..."it is never to early to begin learning manners!"

Ok so you have to hear it or see it in the movie to think its funny... but it makes me laugh. I often think to myself... mommy is trying sleep. Please let mommy sleep... or that makes mommy not breath! Stop kicking. I am not sure you can really sass around the unborn!

Ben can sure play hide and seek with doodlebug. He puts his hand on my tummy and taps his thumbs in one spot and the baby kicks back (thanks for that)!!! And then he taps in another spot and baby moves over there. It is pretty fun I will have to admitt!

Week 28!

We left off the blogging around week 27, 28 right around bens birthday! We went bowling and had a grand time! Life got busy around here after that so sorry for the lack of fun updates! Again, I am going to throw a bunch up but they are fun to look back on!

28 weeks Feb. 23, 2010
Size: Length 15.25-15.75 in, weight 2.25-2.5lbs, Size: Pair of Sneakers
(what a lame size comparison)

Third Trimester officially started! Yeah for the last three months. The end still seems like forever away, so I just remind myself I wanted to look more pregnant! I wanted a bump to show off!

"This week your baby's eyes will finally open and it’ll begin blinking, even though it's pitch black in there. Baby is also on regular sleep-wake schedule, although it’s only getting about 20-30 minutes of shut-eye at time -- very different from how much baby will be snoozing the first days as a newborn. By the way, your baby's now big enough to describe size from head-to-toe, so we've switched over from crown-to-rump to a full-body measurement -- so neat!" - Ages and Stages

"By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds and measures apx. 14.8 inches from the top of the head to the heels. Baby can blink it's eyes, which now sport lashes. With eyesight developing, baby may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. Baby's also developing billions of neurons in the brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world." - Baby Center Info

I definitely feel the baby moving around a ton, and sleep has become well... awake time for me and the kiddo!
